Involving children and young people in violence prevention research

The Serious Violence Prevention Programme (SVPP) have commissioned Young People Cornwall (YPC) to research how best to hear children and young people's voices in organisations working in violence prevention.

A lack of lived-experience perspectives from young people was identified by SVPP as a limitation of recent research. This was reflected in the difficulties experienced by the research team in gaining access to, engaging, and conducting qualitative research with young people as part of the study.

Young People Cornwall will be working with children, young people and partner organisations to create a framework that outlines practical and evidenced tools and approaches that increase the meaningful participation of young people in organisations working in violence prevention.

The framework will incorporate research into local and national good practice and the voice of children/young people who have lived and living experience of violence.

Please encourage children and young people you work with to take part - initially by completing a questionnaire – please share the poster and QR code below. There is also the chance for children and young people to take part in focus groups with food provided, and be paid to take part in interviews.

SVPP is a two-year programme to develop new approaches to violence prevention in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and assist in the implementation of the Serious Violence Duty.
