Free Training - Compassionate Communities: An Introduction to Trauma Awareness
Compassionate Communities: An Introduction to Trauma Awareness, a welcoming and practical workshop designed for anyone who wants to help make their community safer and more supportive.
Over the next few months, Safer Stronger Communities will be hosting free training sessions across Cornwall. They will be delivering the same workshop in different communities, so you only need to attend once.
About the workshop
The session gives a gentle, easy-to-understand introduction to what trauma is and how it can affect people in our community. We explore how life experiences – such as stress, loss, pressure, or difficult situations – can shape how people feel and behave.
Together, we will look at simple ways to offer understanding and kindness, even when someone’s behaviour feels challenging. By the end of the workshop, participants will feel more confident noticing when someone might be struggling and knowing how to respond with compassion.
It’s a friendly, practical session for anyone who wants to help build safer, more supportive communities.

Safer Stronger Communities (SSC) works to create communities safer from poverty and discrimination, by providing new opportunities for those who are vulnerable, marginalised or experience multiple disadvantage. We bring together partners who share this common goal, building strength through co-operation and innovation. They have unique expertise in supporting and working with those at risk, including offenders and ex-offenders, young people, victims of crime including domestic and sexual abuse, those with learning disabilities or difficulties, and other vulnerable groups.
