Exploitation and County Lines

In Cornwall we have made it a priority to improve the identification and response to child sexual exploitation, and other related forms of exploitation such as criminal exploitation. Exploitation can happen to young people from all backgrounds, but some young people may be more vulnerable – those who have experienced prior abuse, are homeless, are misusing alcohol and drugs, have a disability, are in care, are out of education, or you have run away/go missing from home or care. Anxiety, shame and guilt are powerful barriers to young people seeking help and so we are working hard to provide relationship-based support and help give young people a voice, and we are shifting our focus to targeting the perpetrators responsible.

A webinar on child exploitation with a particular focus on criminal exploitation and ‘County Lines’. This session has been developed jointly by Police and children’s social care and is intended to help professionals identify and respond effectively to emerging signs of exploitation. The session will also provide an update on developments in Cornwall’s response to exploitation.

This 2 hour online session is specifically for colleagues working in Health (GPs, RCHT, CPFT), Schools, early years and the voluntary sector.
