The Power Threat Meaning Framework: an Introduction
This is an experiential, reflective workshop that introduces the core thinking of the Framework, and gives participants the opportunity to apply the PTMF lens to someone they work with or have worked with - or perhaps a friend or family member. Furthermore, participants consider how they might apply the Framework in their own job role and work context.
This training will help you to work with clients to acknowledge past trauma and adversity and make sense of how this might be impacting on them in the here and now by:
- Screening for ACES, dissociation and PTSD symptoms
- Acknowledging strengths and positive power resources
- Making sense of threats and threat responses using the Power Threat Meaning Model
- Developing skills in regulation and safety
This intervention aims to helps people to:
- Develop a non shameful coherent story about what has happened to them
- Be more present and connected to their brain and body
- Have increased capacity to regulate and feel relaxed and safe
This course will include discussion around adversity and trauma. We are mindful that this may be challenging for some participants. Please make sure that you have professional and personal support in place in case you need it after or during this session.
