Multi- Agency Neglect Deep Dive 10/02/27: Neglect, Coercive Control and Domestic Abuse
Course information:
Neglect and domestic abuse frequently overlap, but assessments can unintentionally hold the non-abusive parent responsible for circumstances created by the person causing harm.
This session examines how coercive control affects parenting capacity, family routines, access to money, healthcare, education and emotional availability. Delegates will explore the child’s daily experience, patterns of control and the cumulative impact of living with fear and instability.
The session promotes trauma-informed, strengths-based practice that identifies the person responsible for the abuse while supporting protective parenting and developing coordinated multi-agency safety plans.
