Exploitation

Exploitation Webinar

Over recent years the exploitation of young people has taken many forms, changing in line with changes in our society. In Cornwall we have made it our priority to improve the identification and response to Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), and other forms of exploitation such as Criminal Exploitation (CE) and we continue to develop our responses. Exploitation can happen to young people from all backgrounds, but some young people may be more vulnerable – those who have experienced prior abuse, are misusing alcohol and drugs, have a disability, are in care or care experienced. Anxiety, shame and guilt are powerful barriers to young people seeking help and so we are working hard to provide relationship-based support and help give young people a voice, and we are shifting our focus to targeting the perpetrators responsible and disrupting exploitation.

This session has been developed jointly by Police and children’s social care and is intended to help professionals identify and respond effectively to emerging signs of exploitation. The session will also provide an update on developments in Cornwall’s response to exploitation.

This 2 hour online session is specifically for colleagues working in Health (GPs, RCHT, CPFT), Schools, early years and the voluntary sector.
