Multi- Agency Neglect Deep Dive 23/11/26: Neglect and Working with Men in Families
Course Description:
Men can play significant roles in children’s lives but are often overlooked, insufficiently assessed or treated only as risks within safeguarding practice.
This session considers how fathers, partners and other significant men can influence children’s safety, care and wellbeing. Delegates will explore gender bias, hidden household members, engagement barriers and the importance of understanding each man’s parenting role, relationships and impact.
The session will support practitioners to engage men confidently, assess both risks and strengths, avoid placing responsibility solely on mothers, and build a fuller picture of the child’s family environment.
