Multi- Agency Neglect Deep Dive 14/04/27: How do we respond to hoarding as an issue of neglect?
Course information:
Hoarding can create significant risks for children, including unsafe sleeping arrangements, poor hygiene, fire hazards, social isolation and limited space for play or study.
This session examines hoarding as a complex issue that may be connected to trauma, mental ill health, neurodiversity, loss or family patterns. Delegates will consider how to assess the home through the child’s lived experience without relying solely on cleanliness or appearance.
The session focuses on respectful engagement, objective recording, coordinated multi-agency responses and assessing whether improvements are meaningful, sustained and sufficient to keep children safe.
