Deadline 23 November – don’t miss out!

What it is:

Cornwall Youth Council started in April 2022 and since March 2024 has run an elected member structure so young people across Cornwall have a say in who represents them on the Youth Council. Cornwall Youth Council is made up of 5 roles, Elected Members, Members of Youth Parliament, Associate Members, Peer Mentors and the Comms Team.

Young people have the opportunity to elect 18 geographic members of Cornwall Youth Council. Cornwall’s Members of Youth Parliament are then elected from that group. We would like your support to encourage young people aged 11- 18 to register to stand for election. Detailed information about the Youth Council elections is attached.

Young people have until 23rd November at midnight to register their interest. After this all the young people will be invited to attend a workshop day with existing members of Youth Council to find out more about the role and develop their election goal.

What can you do to help:

  • Spread the word via your social media and through youth groups and encourage and support young people to register for election for Youth Council
  • Spread the word with any school contacts you have
  • Work with the Children’s Rights team to enable support needs for all young people to be considered
  • Facilitate voting in areas where you have youth groups and we do not get schools to sign up
  • Support young people who are not in education to take part and vote
