Information Sharing Protocol

The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Safeguarding Adults Board's Information Sharing Protocol provides a framework for the lawful, proportionate and effective sharing of information between agencies involved in safeguarding adults.

The protocol recognises that timely information sharing is essential to protecting adults with care and support needs from abuse and neglect. It promotes a coordinated multi-agency approach, ensuring information is shared appropriately, on a need-to-know basis, and in accordance with legal and data protection requirements.

The guidance explains when information can be shared with or without consent, outlines the responsibilities of partner agencies under the Care Act 2014, and supports consistent decision-making, recording and accountability.

Overall, the protocol aims to strengthen safeguarding practice by enabling effective partnership working while balancing the need to protect individuals with their rights to privacy and confidentiality.
