Adult Safeguarding Prevention Strategy 2024
The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Safeguarding Adults Board's Adult Safeguarding Prevention Strategy sets out a partnership approach to preventing abuse and neglect before harm occurs. The strategy promotes early identification of risk, reducing vulnerability, and strengthening protective factors through collaborative working across agencies, communities and services.
Informed by learning from Safeguarding Adult Reviews, trauma-informed practice and Think Family approaches, the strategy recognises the impact of factors such as social isolation, disability, mental ill-health, substance misuse and health inequalities on an individual's vulnerability to abuse and neglect.
The strategy focuses on raising awareness, strengthening partnerships, engaging communities, and embedding consistent safeguarding practice across all organisations. It places the voice and experiences of adults at the centre of prevention activity and promotes the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal.
Overall, the strategy aims to create a culture of prevention across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, helping agencies work together to reduce abuse and neglect, support safer communities, and enable adults with care and support needs to live healthy, independent and fulfilling lives.
