Trauma Recovery Model Practitioner 3-day Training
Trauma Recovery Model Practitioner Training
We are delighted to be able to invite colleagues in Cornwall working with adults and children who have experienced trauma to take part in a 3-day online Trauma Recovery Model Practitioner course delivered by the Trauma Recovery Academy. This course will run on 7th-9th November and again on 5th-7th December
There are 7 modules in the course which are covered over the 3 days and include an assessment. If you achieve a pass or higher grade you are qualified as a TRM Practitioner; Distinction grade allows the learner to apply for entry to a future TRM Trainer course
The modules cover a range of topics including
- The attachment process & brain development; how both can be disrupted when
development is skewed by trauma, abuse, neglect, etc.
● The behavioural sequelae associated with adversity, trauma and disrupted attachment:
how people’s behaviour is affected and what this looks like. Covering four broad
categories of presentation or behaviour clusters that children, young people and adults
may display and the links back to the context and experiences that influence
development.
● The principles of good engagement; using Consistency Predictability and Reliability
alongside Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy.
- The ethical underpinnings and theory/research base behind the TRM.
● A focussed, layer by layer, run through of the lower three layers of the TRM; examining
in detail the fit between commonly used intervention types and their efficacy with
children and young people displaying the kinds of behaviours often experienced by
practitioners on the front line.
● The remaining layers of the TRM; focussing on sequencing more cognitive and
language-dependent interventions with practical application and how this can be
tailored to the practitioner context. This includes handling trust-building, bereavement
and loss, disclosures, etc.
Participants will also be able to access the Online Learning Space which will include pre and post course reading materials and downloadable resources.
Please note places will only be confirmed on the completion of all paperwork including providing the necessary proof of identity e.g passport.
We anticipate that there will be a high level of demand for these courses so we will only be able to offer one place per team.
This training is funded through the European Social Fund Employer Led Skills project
