Putting Aside Organisational Ego- A session for senior leaders and managers focussing on compassionate leadership.

Online Learning Lessons Workshop 22nd November 2022  9.30am-11.30am

The purpose of compassionate leadership in health and social care is to help create the conditions where all of those in our communities are supported to live the best and most fulfilling lives they can.

PROFESSOR MICHAEL WEST

Our Safeguarding Children Partnership would like to invite senior leaders and managers to attend a Learning Lessons workshop – Putting Aside Organisational Ego on 22nd November 2022 from 9.30am-11.30am. This workshop offers an opportunity to reflect on the use of compassionate leadership in organisations across Cornwall and the ways in which organisations work together. Compassionate leadership involves a focus on relationships through careful listening to, understanding, empathising with and supporting other people, enabling those we lead to feel valued, respected and cared for, so they can reach their potential and do their best work. There is clear evidence that compassionate leadership results in more engaged and motivated staff with high levels of wellbeing, which in turn results in high-quality care (West 2021).

We are delighted that this session will feature Dulcie McBride, Public Health Consultant, Cornwall Council, talking to Professor Michael West.

Professor Michael West CBE joined The King's Fund as a visiting fellow in 2013. He is Professor of Work and Organisational Psychology at Lancaster University, Visiting Professor at University College, Dublin, and Emeritus Professor at Aston University.

Professor West has extensive experience of working to improve staff experience and care quality. He assisted the development of the national frameworks on improvement and leadership development in England in Northern Ireland, and is currently supporting Health Education and Improvement Wales to develop the national health and care leadership strategy in Wales.
